UAE Telecom Upgrades Network to Keep Pace With Surging Data Demand

Telecommunications users across the Middle East are pressing harder than ever on the region’s network infrastructure, and the strain is showing. e& UAE, the telecom arm of e&, is responding by deploying Ciena’s next-generation optical and software solutions to build a Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) network engineered to handle rapidly escalating traffic demands.

The stakes for ordinary users are direct. Reliable, high-speed connectivity underpins the digital services that citizens and businesses depend on daily, from streaming and cloud applications to business tools and emerging technologies. These systems operate alongside Ciena’s Navigator Network Control Suite, which provides end-to-end network visibility and automation. That control suite is what industry observers point to as the foundation of future intelligent, data-driven networks, giving operators the precision and responsiveness needed to manage increasingly complex systems.

The choice of Ciena builds on an existing partnership focused on next-generation digital infrastructure in the UAE. Marwan Bin Shakar, Chief Technology Officer at e& UAE, described the new DWDM network as a significant step forward in the capacity and scalability of the company’s infrastructure. Shakar said the region must respond to rapidly growing bandwidth demand, and that Ciena was selected for its proven leadership in high-capacity optical networking and its ability to deliver scalable, resilient, and low-latency infrastructure. With this technology, he added, the company can provide customers across the Middle East with connectivity built to support their evolving needs.

Meanwhile, Brodie Gage, Senior Vice President and Chief Product and Technology Officer at Ciena, pointed to the broader regional context. He characterized the Middle East as experiencing a surge in bandwidth demand driven by rapid expansion of advanced digital applications, and said e& UAE’s next-generation network will help position the company to stay ahead of today’s and tomorrow’s evolving digital requirements. By leveraging Ciena’s technology, Gage said, e& is future-proofing its network to support continued digital evolution and growing capacity demands.
