Corrections Policy — Sidre Wire

Sidre Wire is committed to accurate, fair reporting for readers across the United Arab Emirates. When we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and transparently.

How to report an error - Email [email protected] with the article URL and a clear description of the alleged error. - Or submit the issue using our online /contact/ form.
We do not accept corrections via social media DMs as the primary channel. We will acknowledge receipt by email or through the contact form.

What we correct - Significant factual errors, misleading statements, or omissions that affect the meaning of a story will be corrected with a published note. - Clarifications that materially change a reader’s understanding will be treated as corrections. - Minor edits — typographical errors, grammar, formatting, broken links — are corrected silently unless they affect the substance.

Internal review steps 1. Acknowledgement: We aim to acknowledge correction requests within one business day. 2. Assignment: An editor is assigned to review the claim and gather relevant materials — reporting notes, sources, recordings, and the reporter’s account. 3. Verification: The editor verifies facts, consults original sources, and where appropriate contacts the subject of the report or an independent expert. 4. Decision: The editor decides whether a correction, clarification, update, or no change is warranted. 5. Action: If a correction is required, the editor updates the article text, adds a visible correction notice, and updates our corrections log. 6. Notification: We notify the person who submitted the request of the outcome and, where relevant, publish a correction note.

Where corrections appear - A correction notice will be placed at the top of the article or immediately below the headline when the change affects the story’s substance. The notice will state what was changed and why, and include the date of the correction. - We also maintain a central corrections log on this page summarising significant corrections and their dates. - When changes are minor and silent, no public notice will be added.

Timelines - Acknowledgement: within one business day. - Simple factual errors: corrected within three business days where verification is straightforward. - Complex cases or disputes: may take up to ten business days; we will update the requester on progress. - In exceptional circumstances (legal or safety concerns) articles may be removed or archived; such actions will be explained to the requester.

Retention and transparency We preserve meaningful editorial records and will not erase the public record except for legal or safety reasons. All substantive corrections include a dated note describing what was changed.
